POTENTIAL DIRECTION 3...
Projection
Similarly to what is seen in the adjacent video, I plan on creating an installation piece which uses colour to create contrasts and fast movement to convey urgency and change. |
|
I intend on creating a piece that utilises a projector, animation and compositing software and many everyday household items which will be white or have been painted white. I plan on positioning, and stacking the objects in a way that brings a sense of depth to the scene. This installation piece will include a vast array of things being projected which convey a strong sense of movement. I would like to incorporate live action elements and footage into my projections and mix them with the colourful shapes. Having a dynamic set built from real objects which has depth to it will hopefully allow for the audience to be enticed by the way I animate live action elements to interact with the set and move around it. I would like to project different features on different parts of the set, which don’t make much sense but when viewed as a whole in the context of the entire set, create a convey a clear picture to the audience about what is being projected.
Once again, change is a major part of my exploration proposal and creating an animation which changes the way people view boring objects is a big deal. Confusion and lies are also at the heart of my theme and the way they are used to affect individuals but not affect a whole people at once. |
To show this affectively, colour and separation of set pieces will be use. As stated in my exploration proposal,
“I will use colour to create a contrast between reality and the way the media sensationalizes issues by showing an over exaggeration of colours such as bright and saturated while depicting reality’s colours as slightly under saturated and dull. While there will be deliberate aspects of confusion within separate elements of the work, once an audience is able to see the piece as a whole, a sense of harmony will be shown to the audience." I have found using Adobe After Effects to project my animations onto my set pieces quite challenging and very time consuming. I believe that doing a few more refinements and practice projections will help me greatly with that and improve my skills with the software. I also need to refine my methods of recording live action elements to project onto my sets. I will continue to exercise my skills in chroma keying and rotoscoping to effectively extract live subjects from shots. |
